Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services is one of the largest brokerage firms in the country and is the second largest custodian for Registered Investment Advisors. Fidelity Institutional is a business unit of Fidelity Investments backed by the brokerage platforms of Fidelity Brokerage Services and National Financial Services, two affiliated broker-dealer firms.
The Fidelity advisor interface is Advisor Channel, which has two versions. The website, advisorchannel.com, is capable of handing most daily tasks of advisors while the Advisor Channel software is useful for more complex trading assignments such as rebalancing and block trading.
Shortly both will be replaced with Wealth Central, a completely online platform for advisor's use. Wealth Central will be able to manage all functions of account management and trading. Optional add-on services that can be reached from the Fidelity system are available. The outside vendors are Oracle's On Demand CRM, Advent's APX performance reporting, and EISI's NaviPlan financial planning software.
